Blinds

No results!
  • Are cellular (honeycomb) blinds good for reducing noise?

Yes. Cellular (also known as honeycomb) blinds are one of the most effective blind types for noise reduction. Their internal air pockets help slow sound transmission, making them particularly effective when recess-fitted and professionally measured.
  • Are wooden Venetian blinds suitable for bathrooms?

Faux wood Venetian blinds are recommended for humid rooms.

  • What is the difference between real wood and faux wood?

Real wood offers natural grain, while faux wood provides moisture resistance

  • Can roller blinds be blackout?

Yes, blackout fabrics are available and are particularly popular for bedrooms. As there will be light coming around the edges of the blind, this would be best described as room darkening.

  • Are roller blinds suitable for all rooms?

Yes, with the right fabric choice, roller blinds can be used throughout the home

Plantation Shutters

No results!
  • Can plantation shutters be used in kitchens and bathrooms?

Yes. Moisture-resistant materials and finishes are available, making plantation shutters suitable for kitchens, bathrooms and other areas where humidity levels may be higher.
  • Are plantation shutters suitable for all windows?

Yes. Plantation shutters are made to measure and can be designed to fit a wide range of window shapes and sizes, including standard windows, bay windows, doors and large glazed openings.
  • Can shutters be used on bifold or patio doors?

Yes — tracked shutters are a great solution for bifold doors. They slide or fold neatly along a bottom track and offer excellent privacy and light control with a premium finish. They’re also child-safe and durable.
  • Do wooden shutters reduce noise?

They can. Wooden plantation shutters tend to perform better for noise reduction than harder, higher-density materials because natural wood absorbs sound more effectively. Full window coverage, correct frame design and a tight fit are all essential for best results.
  • What is a shutter and shade system?

A shutter and shade system combines a wooden plantation shutter at the front with a cellular (honeycomb) blind fitted behind it. This creates a layered solution, bringing together two of the most effective window treatments for noise reduction in one integrated system.

Motorisation & Smart Control

No results!
  • Can I retrofit a smart hub later if I start with remote control only?

In most cases, yes. If your motor type is compatible, a hub such as the Somfy TaHoma Switch can usually be added later to introduce app control, voice activation and automation.
  • Will motorisation make my blinds look bulky?

No. Modern motors and battery packs are discreetly housed within the headrail, and colour-matched pelmets keep the finish clean and minimal.
  • What is the benefit of Zigbee with motorised blinds?

Zigbee allows certain newer Somfy motors to communicate using mesh networking, improving reliability and enabling deeper integration with wider smart home ecosystems. Availability depends on the motor specified.
  • Are there size limits for motorised wooden Venetian blinds?

Yes. There are maximum width and drop limitations. We assess suitability carefully to ensure smooth operation and long-term reliability.
  • Can motorised Venetian blinds be grouped together?

Yes. Multiple blinds can be grouped and controlled simultaneously via remote, app or automation scenes.

Measuring & Installation

No results!
  • What happens if my walls or windows aren’t perfectly straight?

That’s normal. Very few properties are perfectly level or square, particularly in period homes. Because we measure and install ourselves, we can allow for slight variations, make on-site adjustments where needed, and ensure the finished result looks balanced and operates smoothly.
  • Do you provide measuring and installation?

Yes. We offer a complete service, including professional home measuring and installation, ensuring your blinds, shutters or curtains fit and operate perfectly.
  • Is professional measuring really necessary?

Yes — especially for made-to-measure products. Windows are rarely perfectly square, and factors like recess depth, lintels, tiles, handles and vents all affect how a blind or shutter should be specified. Professional measuring ensures the product is ordered correctly and performs as it should once installed.
  • Can you handle difficult installations like tiles, steel lintels or deep recesses?

Yes. We regularly install into concrete lintels, steel supports, tiled areas and other challenging surfaces. We use the correct tools and fixings for each situation and plan installations carefully to avoid damage while ensuring a secure, long-lasting fit.
  • Do you use subcontractors for measuring or fitting?

No. All measuring and fitting is carried out by our own employed team. This means the same standards apply from survey through to installation, and there is clear accountability throughout the process.
