Cassette Roller Blinds
A cassette roller blind includes a slim pelmet at the top of the blind, designed to house and protect the roller mechanism. The cassette creates a neater finish at the window and improves overall performance, particularly when blinds are motorised.
While cassette pelmets can be fitted to manual roller blinds, we frequently use them for motorised systems. The cassette distributes the weight of the blind more evenly than standard end brackets, offering improved stability and a cleaner architectural appearance.

Why Choose a Cassette Roller Blind?
Cassette roller blinds offer both functional and aesthetic advantages. By enclosing or partially enclosing the roll of fabric at the top, they reduce visible hardware and help conceal the blind when it is raised.
- Neater, more streamlined appearance
- Improved weight distribution for motorised blinds
- Protects the roller mechanism
- Reduces visible light gap at the top
- Suitable for both manual and motorised blinds
Semi-Cassette Pelmet
The semi-cassette pelmet is approximately 4cm deep at the front and partially obscures the top of the roller. It offers a neat and discreet finish while remaining visually lightweight.
This option helps reduce the increasing light gap that can appear at the top of a roller blind as it is lowered, making it a popular choice for bedrooms and living spaces.
- Approx. 4cm front projection
- Partially conceals the roller
- Neat, minimal appearance
- Helps reduce top light gap
Full Cassette Pelmet – 7cm
The 7cm full cassette pelmet drops approximately seven centimetres from the top fixing point and fully encloses the roller when the blind is raised.
When open, the blind roll is concealed inside the cassette, leaving only the bottom weight bar visible. This provides a cleaner, more complete finish compared to standard bracket fittings.
- 7cm deep full enclosure
- Conceals roller when raised
- Improved aesthetic finish
- Popular for motorised blinds
Deep Cassette Pelmet – 9cm
The 9cm cassette pelmet offers the deepest housing option. This allows the entire blind, including the bottom weight bar, to be tucked neatly inside the fascia when fully raised.
This option is particularly effective where a minimalist appearance is preferred, or where blinds are being installed over bifolding doors or large glazed areas.
- 9cm deep housing
- Fully conceals roller and weight bar
- Ideal for bifolding doors
- Creates a clean, almost hidden finish
Capital Fascia – Retrofitted Pelmet System
The Capital Fascia is a deep, retrofitted pelmet system designed to be fitted over the front of an existing blind installation. Unlike standard cassette roller systems, this fascia is universal and can be installed in front of many different blind types.
At approximately 120mm deep, the Capital Fascia provides substantial coverage, concealing the top mechanism and improving the overall finish of the blind installation.
- Approx. 120mm deep fascia
- Retrofitted system – suitable for existing blinds
- Universal design
- Can be fitted to roller, vertical or Venetian blinds
- Improves overall aesthetic finish
The Capital Fascia is available in a selection of finishes including white, black, anthracite and brushed silver. This allows the fascia to be coordinated with window frames, interior colour schemes or commercial environments.
Because it is retrofitted, the Capital Fascia is an excellent solution where an existing blind installation needs upgrading to achieve a cleaner, more architectural appearance without replacing the entire blind system.
Cassette Finishes and Colour Options
Cassette pelmets are available in a range of finishes to suit different interiors and window styles. The fascia can be left in a plain finish or covered in matching fabric for a seamless appearance.
- Plain fascia finishes in white, black or anthracite
- Fabric-wrapped fascia option available
- Coordinated finish for a seamless look
- Suitable for contemporary and modern interiors
Where Cassette Roller Blinds Work Best
Cassette roller blinds are particularly popular for motorised installations and large glazed areas. They are frequently chosen for bifolding doors, patio doors and wide window spans where the cleaner finish makes a noticeable difference.
When raised, the blind is largely hidden within the cassette, giving a minimal appearance that allows the glazing to take centre stage.
- Motorised roller blind installations
- Bifolding and patio doors
- Wide glazed areas
- Modern, minimalist interiors

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a cassette roller blind?
A cassette roller blind includes a pelmet housing at the top that encloses or partially encloses the roller mechanism. It creates a neater finish and helps protect the blind when raised. Are cassette pelmets only for motorised roller blinds?
No. While cassette systems are commonly used with motorised roller blinds because they distribute weight more evenly, they can also be fitted to manual roller blinds. What is the difference between a semi-cassette and a full cassette?
A semi-cassette (approximately 4cm deep) partially covers the roller and reduces the visible light gap at the top. A full cassette (7cm or 9cm) fully encloses the roller when raised, with the 9cm option also concealing the bottom weight bar.Why would I choose a 9cm cassette instead of a 7cm cassette?
A 9cm cassette allows the entire blind, including the weight bar, to be fully hidden inside the fascia when raised. It offers the cleanest, most concealed appearance, particularly suitable for bifolding doors or large glazed areas.Do cassette roller blinds help reduce light gaps
Yes. While no blind can completely eliminate all light, a cassette pelmet helps reduce the top light gap that can become more visible as the blind is lowered. What colours are cassette pelmets available in?
Cassette pelmets are commonly available in white, black and anthracite. Fabric-wrapped fascia options are also available, allowing the cassette to match the blind fabric for a seamless appearance. What is a Capital Fascia?
The Capital Fascia is a deeper, retrofitted pelmet system that can be installed over the front of an existing blind. It is approximately 120mm deep and designed to conceal the blind mechanism and improve the overall finish. Can the Capital Fascia be fitted to any type of blind?
Yes. The Capital Fascia is universal and can be fitted in front of roller blinds, vertical blinds and Venetian blinds. Is the Capital Fascia only for new installations?
No. Because it is retrofitted, it can be added to existing blind installations to upgrade their appearance without replacing the blind itself. What colours is the Capital Fascia available in?
The Capital Fascia is available in white, black, anthracite and brushed silver, allowing coordination with window frames or interior design schemes. Are cassette systems suitable for bifolding doors?
Yes. Cassette roller blinds are particularly popular for bifolding and patio doors because the blind is largely concealed when raised, creating a clean, minimal appearance.Do cassette pelmets affect how the blind operates?
No. The cassette houses the mechanism but does not change how the blind functions. In motorised systems, it can improve stability across the width of the blind.
