What Is a Retrofitted Blind Motor?

In many cases, it is possible to upgrade your existing roller blind by inserting a slim lithium-ion rechargeable motor directly inside the roller tube.

  • The motor fits neatly inside the existing tube
  • No external wiring required
  • Operate using a remote control
  • Compatible with a smart hub for phone or voice control
  • A cost-effective alternative to replacing the entire blind

How Retrofitting Works

  • A rechargeable lithium-ion motor is installed inside the roller tube
  • The blind is operated via a four-channel remote control
  • Up to four blinds can be controlled on the same remote
  • The system can connect to a compatible smart hub
  • Each motor is supplied with its own charging cable

Is Your Existing Blind Suitable?

Not all roller blinds can be retrofitted. The internal tube must be large enough to house the motor.

  • The tube must be a suitable diameter internally
  • The blind must be wide enough to accommodate the motor length
  • Some ready-made blinds have tubes that are too narrow
  • If the blind is too small, the motor will not fit

If your blind is not suitable, we are happy to provide a quotation for a new motorised blind instead.

Battery & Charging

  • Rechargeable lithium-ion battery
  • Charging typically required every 4–6 months
  • Full charge takes approximately 4–5 hours
  • Once charged, the motor will operate for another 4–6 months
  • No mains wiring required

Professional Assessment & Measurement

  • We measure the blind and internal tube size accurately
  • We confirm whether the motor can be safely installed
  • A small charge applies for this assessment visit
  • Clear advice given before any installation proceeds

If retrofitting is not possible, we will discuss alternative options with you.
