Trainee Blinds and Shutter Installer (Part-Time) – Wokingham
Wokingham Base | Part-Time (3–4 Days) | Trainee Fitting Role
The Opportunity
We are a long-established, family-run blinds and shutters business, and we are looking for a Trainee Blinds & Shutters Installer to join our team on a part-time basis.
This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to learn the fitting trade properly and develop the skills needed to install blinds, shutters, and related products to a high standard.
You will work closely with our Fitting Manager, supporting installations, learning best practice on site, and building the skills needed to become a capable and professional fitter over time.
Base Location & Travel
- Daily start and finish point is our Wokingham base
- Stock collection, preparation, and end-of-day debriefing take place here
- Work is carried out across North Hampshire, Surrey, and West Berkshire
- A company van is used during the working day as part of the fitting team operation
- This is not a company car or personal-use vehicle
What This Role Really Involves
- Assisting with the installation of blinds, shutters, and curtains in customers’ homes
- Working alongside the Fitting Manager and learning the correct fitting methods
- Helping prepare tools, stock, fixings, and equipment for each day
- Supporting smooth customer handovers and demonstrations
- Learning how to work safely, neatly, and professionally in customers’ homes
- Developing practical problem-solving skills for real installation situations
A Typical Day

- Travel with the team to customer properties
- Support installations and learn on site throughout the day
- Help check off issues, unused items, and stock requirements
- Return to base for debrief, unloading, and preparation for the next day
Training & Development
This is a trainee role, so full training will be provided. We are more interested in attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn than previous blinds or shutters experience.
- You will be taught how to fit products correctly and safely
- You will learn how to prepare properly for each day’s work
- You will develop your understanding of customer expectations and professional standards
- You will gradually build the knowledge and confidence to take on more responsibility
Preparation & Responsibility
Even as a trainee, you will be expected to take pride in being prepared and ready to work.
- Helping check and load the correct stock for the day
- Making sure tools, fixings, and consumables are ready
- Supporting the team in keeping the stock and fitting area organised
- Flagging shortages, missing items, or issues promptly
We are looking for someone who understands that good fitting starts with good preparation.

- Be polite, respectful, and professional in customers’ homes
- Listen carefully and follow the lead of the Fitting Manager
- Help ensure the customer feels comfortable and reassured
- Never speculate or raise concerns with the customer without checking first
- Take pride in leaving the home tidy and the job completed properly
What We’re Looking For
- A practical, hands-on mindset
- A genuine willingness to learn and improve
- Good attention to detail
- Reliability and a strong work ethic
- Confidence working in customers’ homes as part of a professional team
- A calm, sensible approach when things do not go to plan
- Honesty and willingness to take guidance
Requirements
- A full UK driving licence is an advantage, but not essential for the right candidate
- Comfortable with physical, hands-on work
- Able to work as part of a team and take direction well
- Comfortable using an iPad or tablet, or willing to learn
Working Hours
- Part-time role – typically 3 to 4 days per week
