Company: Decart Holdings Ltd – Blinds and Shutter
Primary location: Basingstoke showroom, Hampshire
The Opportunity
We are a well-established, family-run blinds, shutters and curtains business
looking for an experienced, customer-focused salesperson to take day-to-day
ownership of sales activity and the customer experience at our Basingstoke
showroom.
This is an active, consultative sales role, not a position where you simply
wait for customers to make their own decisions. You will ask thoughtful
questions, understand what customers want to achieve, recommend suitable
products and confidently help them move towards an informed purchase.
The role combines showroom sales, telephone and online enquiries, Zoom
consultations, local home visits and accurate quotation and ordering
administration. You will also help improve the showroom as a welcoming,
effective place for customers to explore their options.
This is a hands-on lead role, not a people-management position.
There are no direct reports. You will work directly with the directors,
taking responsibility for your work and showing initiative within agreed
processes and budgets.
We are looking for someone who wants to perform to a high standard and make
the most of the earning opportunities available. Product and system training
will be provided, but you should already bring sales experience, professional
judgement and the confidence to guide a customer towards a decision.
Salary & Earning Opportunities
Our package rewards sales performance, dependable attendance, professional
working practices and excellent customer service. There are several ways
to increase your earnings beyond your basic salary.
Basic Salary
£26,600 gross per year for a 40-hour working week.
Attendance, sales and customer-review bonuses are additional to this
basic salary.
Attendance & Reliability Bonus – Up to £2,400 Per Year
Reliable colleagues make a real difference to the team and our customers.
This scheme recognises dependable attendance, accurate timekeeping,
following agreed procedures and open, honest communication.
- Exemplary: £200 per month.
- Good: £80 per month.
- Does not qualify: no payment for that assessment period.
Receiving the full Attendance & Reliability Bonus throughout the year
brings your basic salary and attendance payments to
£29,000 gross per year, before sales and
customer-review bonuses.
Awards are assessed monthly against the scheme criteria using a rolling
three-month record. Eligibility starts from your first day;
new starters are assessed on their record from joining, without a
three-month waiting period.
Your first part-period payment will be pro-rated, subject
to meeting the relevant criteria. Attendance payments are made through
the normal payroll for the relevant period and are not held back for the
customer-outcome assessment used for sales bonuses.
Qualification includes attendance standards, following clocking-in and
clocking-out procedures, promptly reporting genuine errors, following
absence-reporting processes and communicating honestly about working hours.
The full criteria are set out in the scheme.
Sales Bonuses – Up to £10,800 Per Year
Earn performance-based sales bonuses of up to
£900 per month, providing an additional earning
opportunity of up to £10,800 per year.
Our sales bonuses reward strong sales performance alongside accuracy
and the quality of the completed customer experience.
Sales bonuses are paid in arrears. This allows relevant
customer outcomes, including measurement and specification accuracy
and customer satisfaction, to be reviewed under the scheme.
We want the successful person to develop into a consistently strong
performer, working towards an average sales bonus of
£560 per month or more once fully trained and
established in the role.
At an average of £560 per month, together with the basic salary and
full Attendance & Reliability Bonus, annual earnings would be
£35,720 gross, before customer-review bonuses.
With the maximum annual sales bonuses of £10,800 and the full
Attendance & Reliability Bonus throughout the year, annual earnings
would reach £39,800 gross, before additional
customer-review bonuses.
Named Customer-Review Bonuses – Available from Day One
Excellent service deserves recognition. You can earn:
-
£20 for each five-star customer review in which
you are personally named. -
£10 for each four-star customer review in which
you are personally named. - No cap on earnings from these named customer-review bonuses.
Eligibility starts from your first day. Earned customer-review bonuses
are paid in the next pay packet, rather than being held
back with the sales bonuses.
All earnings figures are gross. Bonus payments depend on meeting the
relevant scheme criteria and are not guaranteed. The earnings
illustrations assume a full year at the stated performance levels.
Working Hours & Locations
-
40 hours per week, worked over five days between
Monday and Saturday. -
Saturday working is essential, with a weekday off
according to the agreed working pattern. - No Sunday working – the business is closed on Sundays.
-
Basingstoke is your principal place of work, with
the main focus on covering and developing the showroom. -
Attendance at Wokingham is required for training,
holiday cover and occasional additional days as needed. -
Local home consultations take place within an agreed
Hampshire territory, planned around travel time and showroom commitments.
A company iPad will be provided for your work, with
access to a company pool vehicle for authorised home
consultations. The pool vehicle is a shared business resource, not a
personally allocated company car.
What You Will Be Doing
1. Showroom Sales & Customer Consultations
Help customers choose suitable made-to-measure blinds, shutters and
curtains through clear, professional and genuinely useful advice.
-
Welcome customers and ask effective questions to understand their
requirements, priorities and budget. -
Recommend suitable products, fabrics, finishes and options, explaining
their benefits and practical considerations honestly. -
Prepare accurate quotations and explain current promotions, payment
terms and realistic expectations. -
Address questions and hesitation constructively, without pressuring
customers into unsuitable purchases. -
Confidently invite customers to proceed when the right solution has
been established. -
Take payments through the approved systems and record customer
decisions and specifications accurately.
2. Telephone, Email, Website Chat & Follow-Up
Basingstoke will operate as a dedicated sales hub, with a sales-only inbox
and sales calls routed to the showroom. Your responsibility is to help
enquiries move forward, not simply acknowledge them.
-
Answer incoming sales calls professionally and establish what help
the customer needs. -
Manage the sales inbox and keep customers informed during the enquiry,
quotation and ordering stages. -
Respond to website chat enquiries and encourage customers to book
an appropriate consultation. -
Book showroom, home and Zoom consultations, recording useful
information for each appointment. -
Follow up quotations proactively and agree clear next steps
with customers. -
Maintain accurate customer records so that active enquiries have
a clear status and follow-up action.
3. Zoom & Local Home Consultations
Following training, you will conduct Zoom consultations and visit
customers within the agreed local Hampshire area to understand their
requirements, demonstrate samples and prepare suitable recommendations.
-
Use Zoom confidently to guide customers through their requirements
and available options. -
Take accurate initial window measurements for quotations and record
relevant information clearly. -
Use sample books and product information to help customers understand
fabrics, finishes and practical choices. -
Identify when further technical checking or a survey is required
rather than making assumptions. -
Use the company iPad to prepare quotations, record specifications
and progress enquiries. -
Plan visits around agreed travel time, appointment slots and
showroom cover.
Permitted home-consultation start times:
9:30am • 11:00am • 12:30pm • 2:00pm • 3:30pm
These are available appointment slots, not a requirement to complete
five visits every day. Any temporary showroom closure for an appointment
must be agreed in advance and clearly communicated.
4. Accurate Ordering & Operational Handover
Getting the details right is an essential part of the sale. You will
learn our ordering processes and take responsibility for accurate
administration once trained.
-
Check product selections, measurements, specifications and supporting
information before submitting orders. -
Follow the agreed checking and technical-survey processes for the
products concerned. -
Process orders promptly and maintain complete quotation, payment
and order records. -
Review order confirmations, identify discrepancies early and resolve
queries through the agreed process. -
Provide a clear handover to central operations for subsequent surveys,
installation scheduling and after-sales support.
Where an installation or after-sales enquiry reaches the showroom, you
will acknowledge it professionally and route it promptly to the appropriate
colleague. Your primary focus remains sales and ordering, rather than
taking over the central after-sales function.
5. Showroom Presentation & Development
- Keep the showroom welcoming, organised and professionally presented.
- Maintain current, accessible samples, displays and promotional information.
-
Identify practical improvements to layout, demonstrations and the
consultation experience. -
Work with the directors on an agreed improvement plan within approved
budgets and with appropriate practical support. -
Use quieter periods productively for follow-up, order checking,
product learning and showroom improvements.
6. Sales Performance & Professional Standards
-
Work towards agreed sales targets and review enquiries, quotations,
conversion and follow-up activity. -
Recommend appropriate additional products where they genuinely
meet the customer’s needs. -
Take responsibility for accuracy, clear communication and the quality
of your contribution to the customer experience. -
Follow all applicable child-safety requirements and explain relevant
safety information clearly. -
Follow company procedures for attendance, timekeeping, payments,
customer information and record-keeping. -
Seek clarification when necessary and share useful customer feedback
and local observations with the directors.
What We Are Looking For
Previous sales experience is essential. You should
have personally advised customers, recommended suitable products
and helped convert enquiries into confirmed purchases.
Experience selling home-related, made-to-measure or specification-led
products would be advantageous. Previous blinds, shutters or curtains
experience is helpful but not essential, as product and system training
will be provided.
-
Sales confidence: comfortable asking questions,
explaining value, discussing hesitation and asking for the sale. -
Customer judgement: able to recommend what is
genuinely suitable rather than simply what is easiest to sell. -
Digital confidence: comfortable using an iPad and
learning systems for quotations, customer records, appointments,
payments and video consultations. -
Accuracy: careful with measurements, specifications,
order details and payment records. -
Organisation and initiative: able to manage follow-up,
prioritise work and make effective use of quieter periods. -
Professional communication: confident in person,
on the telephone, through Zoom and in written customer messages. -
Reliability: dependable attendance, accurate
timekeeping and a consistent commitment to agreed procedures. -
Driving: a full, clean UK driving licence and
at least three years’ driving experience. -
Availability: able to work Saturdays, attend both
required showroom locations and undertake local home consultations.
This role will suit someone who enjoys advising, guiding and closing,
takes responsibility for getting the details right, and wants to develop
their knowledge and earnings through strong performance.

Will I work at one location or travel between sites?
Your main place of work will be identified in the vacancy. Depending on the position, there may also be requirements to attend another showroom for training, meetings or holiday cover, or to visit customers’ homes. Please read the location and travel requirements carefully rather than assuming that every position is based entirely at one site. Will I need to work Saturdays, Sundays or bank holidays?
Saturday requirements depend on the position and are stated in the individual vacancy. Where Saturday working is described as essential, it forms part of the normal working pattern. The business is closed on Sundays and does not currently work bank holidays. Your contracted hours and working days will be set out in your employment terms.Do I need previous experience in blinds, shutters or curtains?
Not necessarily. Some positions welcome relevant experience from another industry, while others require particular technical or practical skills. Each vacancy explains which experience is essential, which would be advantageous and what training is provided. Where product and system training is offered, this does not replace any essential sales, customer-service or practical experience stated in the advert.Do all roles require a driving licence or provide a company vehicle?
No single requirement applies to every position. The vacancy will explain whether driving is necessary, what licence and driving experience are required, and whether a company vehicle or pool vehicle is available for work duties. Access to a shared pool vehicle should not be taken to mean that a personally allocated company car is included. How much holiday will I receive?
For a full-time employee working five days per week, annual leave starts at 20 days per year, plus bank holidays. Entitlement increases with length of service, up to 28 days per year, plus bank holidays, under the company’s service-related holiday arrangements. The vacancy and relevant scheme explain the amounts available, eligibility requirements and payment arrangements. Basic salary and conditional bonuses are shown separately, and advertised earnings illustrations should be read alongside their stated assumptions. Our Attendance & Reliability Bonus recognises consistent attendance, reliability, communication and transparency, including following timekeeping and reporting procedures. What is your sick-pay policy?
We provide Statutory Sick Pay where the employee qualifies, but do not currently provide an enhanced company sick-pay scheme. Employees must follow the company’s absence-reporting procedures and keep us appropriately informed when they are unable to work. Any attendance-bonus assessment is handled separately under the relevant scheme. What standards and values are important to the company?
