Perfect Fit Shutter Lite – What It Is, Why It Looked Promising, and Why We Stopped Offering It
Perfect Fit Shutter Lite is a product that sits somewhere between a “Perfect Fit” blind and a plantation shutter. It clips to uPVC windows using the same type of bracket system used for Perfect Fit blinds, then the shutter panel attaches to those brackets so the whole unit sits close to the glass and moves with the window or door. When it was launched, it looked like an innovative idea — especially for tilt-and-turn windows and inward-opening doors where traditional plantation shutters can be more complex to specify. However, after real-world use, we made the decision to stop supplying Perfect Fit Shutter Lite due to reliability and long-term performance concerns. This post explains what it is, what it does well, and why we chose to withdraw it from our range.- What Perfect Fit Shutter Lite is and how it works
- Where it can be a tempting alternative to traditional shutters
- The practical issues we experienced in real homes
- Why we withdrew it as a responsible supplier
- Better alternatives that deliver the same benefits more reliably
Important Update
We are not currently offering Perfect Fit Shutter Lite. We withdrew it due to manufacturing and reliability issues experienced across multiple supply routes, and we were not comfortable supporting it with the long-term guarantees we expect to provide on shutter products. If the product design and long-term performance improves significantly in future, we may review this decision. For now, we believe there are better and more robust solutions available. What Is Perfect Fit Shutter Lite?
Perfect Fit Shutter Lite is designed to replicate the look of plantation shutters while fitting directly against the glass like a Perfect Fit blind. Instead of being mounted into the window recess or onto the wall, it uses a bracket system that clips behind the rubber seals of a uPVC window or door.Once the brackets are in place, the shutter unit clips on, creating a neat integrated finish that doesn’t reduce sill space and moves with the window when opened.- Fitted close to the glass using Perfect Fit-style brackets
- Designed for uPVC windows and doors
- Moves with the window, rather than needing separate shutter panels
- Provides tiltable louvres for light and privacy control
- Often promoted as useful for tilt-and-turn and inward-opening windows
Why It Looked Like a Great Idea
On paper, Perfect Fit Shutter Lite solves several real problems customers face with conventional shutters — especially where windows open inward or where sill space is limited.Because it sits against the glass and moves with the window, it can feel like the “best of both worlds”:- Shutter-style appearance from the outside
- Neat, uncluttered look from the inside
- No loss of sill space compared with traditional shutter frames
- Window can open without needing to fold shutter panels back
- Simple louvre tilt for privacy and daylight control
Our Real-World Experience
Where this product struggled wasn’t in appearance — it was in long-term performance.Unlike most Perfect Fit blinds, a shutter panel introduces significantly more weight and load on the bracket system. In practice, the shutter panel weight and repeated daily operation can place stress on clips and fittings that were originally designed for lighter blind systems.Over time, we found the product could become more prone to issues than we were comfortable with as a professionally fitted supplier.- The shutter panels are relatively heavy compared with standard Perfect Fit blinds
- Bracket systems can feel too lightweight for repeated long-term use
- Performance can vary depending on window type, usage, and fitting tolerance
- We were not confident supporting the product with a long-term shutter guarantee
Why We Withdrew It
As a supplier, our reputation is built on doing two things consistently:- recommending solutions that genuinely suit the customer’s home
- only supplying products we are comfortable guaranteeing long-term
Better Alternatives to Consider
The good news is that most of the reasons people were attracted to Perfect Fit Shutter Lite can be achieved with more proven systems.
1) INTU or Perfect Fit Blinds (Pleated, Cellular, Venetian)
These systems fit neatly against the glass and move with the window, offering a similar integrated look and excellent practicality on doors and tilt-and-turn windows.
- Neat finish with no trailing cords
- Ideal for doors and inward-opening windows
- Wide choice of fabrics and styles
- Cellular options improve insulation
2) Plantation Shutters Designed for Doors and Tilt-and-Turn Windows
With correct specification, traditional shutters can work extremely well on many inward-opening windows and doors — but they need to be designed for clearance, handle position, and operation.- Robust long-term construction and proven hinges
- Proper framing and mounting for stability
- Best choice when the “shutter look” is the main priority
3) Shutter & Shade (Integrated Layering)
Where insulation and practicality are a priority, Shutter & Shade combines the shutter aesthetic with a cellular blind inside the frame, offering strong comfort performance with a premium finish.- Shutter appearance with additional insulation from cellular fabric
- Excellent privacy and light control flexibility
- More robust long-term approach than clip-on shutter panels
Our Approach: Responsible Recommendations
This is a good example of how we work. We don’t keep products in our range simply because they’re fashionable or attractive on paper. Frequently Asked Questions
Do you still supply Perfect Fit Shutter Lite?
No. We made the decision to withdraw Perfect Fit Shutter Lite due to long-term reliability concerns and manufacturing inconsistencies. We were not comfortable supporting it with the level of guarantee we expect to offer on shutter products. Why did you stop offering Perfect Fit Shutter Lite?
In real-world use, we found the product placed too much long-term load on the clip-fit bracket system for a shutter panel. Rather than risk future issues for customers, we chose to stop supplying it and recommend more robust alternatives instead. Is Perfect Fit Shutter Lite a bad product?
Not necessarily — it’s an innovative idea — but in our experience it didn’t meet the durability and long-term performance standards we require for shutter installations. Our decision was based on protecting our customers and our reputation, not on short-term sales. What do you recommend instead of Perfect Fit Shutter Lite?
Depending on your window type, we usually recommend: • INTU or Perfect Fit pleated or cellular blinds • Properly specified plantation shutters for doors or tilt-and-turn windows • Integrated solutions such as Shutter & Shade for improved insulation and stabilityWe’ll always assess your windows and recommend the most suitable option.
